This photograph is a small portion (20" x 20") of a larger panorama (27" x 96"). It was taken from the top of North Twin Cone mountain's peak which is 12,323 feet high. The picture is looking towards the southwest into the area known as South Park here in Colorado. More information below.


North Twin Cone mountain is part of the Platte River Mountain Range located SW of Denver, CO. This mountain range runs parallel on the east side of US Hiway 285 from Bailey, CO to Kenosha pass. Look carefully at the picture and see if you can follow the highway as it winds thru the photograph. The mountain ranges in the background of the photograph are part of the South Park, Ten Mile, and Mosquito ranges. A large, late afternoon thunderstorm was moving thru the region.
